Spiced Apple Galette
Pair with 2019 Fiery Nights • Serves 4
For some dishes, we pair contrasting flavors, while for others we pair complementary flavors. For our Spiced Apple Galette, we’ve matched the baking spices in the recipe with the spiced notes in the wine. Give it a try!
Ingredients3 Apples, thinly sliced Store bought pie crust 1 tbs Ground Cinnamon 1 tsp Ground Ginger 2 tbs Brown Sugar 1 tbs Unsalted Butter, melted 1/4 cup Chopped Pecans (optional) 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream 2 tbs Powdered Sugar |
PreparationStep 1 – Preheat oven 400˚. Follow the defrost directions for the pie shell. Place parchment paper on baking sheet and top with pie shell. Step 2 – Sprinkle brown sugar on the bottom of the pie shell and top with the apple slices leaving 1 inch around the pastry edge. Sprinkle with the cinnamon and ginger then brush with the melted butter. If you are adding the pecans, evenly sprinkle the nuts. Step 3 – While the galette is baking make the whipped cream. Add whipping cream to a large bowl and using a hand mixer, whip the cream for 1 minute. Add the powdered sugar and continue whisking until soft peaks form. Step 4 – Bake 23-25 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven, let cool, and top with whipped cream and extra cinnamon. |
