Grenache has an innate talent of maintaining an air of grace even in the toughest of growing seasons, and the dryness and heat of 2020 is certainly present, but more of a footnote than the driving force. Prickly raspberry and juicy pomegranate jump out with a clean and fresh vail along with smashed strawberry on a wet granite surface that transitions into a tone of sea air and olive brine. Perfumes of lavender blossom subtly provide backup to an otherwise fruit forward nose. The wine strikes the entry softly with a subtle richness of brambles and blueberry jam intermixed with tea leaf. Layers of tannin build around the mid-palate with broad and coarse tannin that carry a note of hot earth and blush red apple sweetness. The wine finishes with a slow fade of coarse tannin and gushing cranberry juice.
