If you came for a Zinfandel that punches above its weight class, you came to the right place. Brown sugar and sticky blackberry syrup come on quickly with a nectar like intensity and density. Coffee bean and anise further richen the senses along with a yeasty brioche and candied bacon savory tone that make this one of the most rich and decadent noses of all time, only balanced slightly by a eucalyptus and black tea leaf herbaceous tone. The palate offers much of the same with a fruit salad of crushed blueberry, juicy pomegranate, and ripe strawberry along with charred notes of burnt cedar and tobacco leaf and a savory demi-glace richness. The structure of the palate is fine grained and moderate yet consistent from entry to finish where a whimsical note of vanilla acts as the diminuendo to an otherwise robust wine.
